Advanced Open Water Diver

During your basic diving course (OWD) you have learned the basic skills of diving. How to behave in situations without air, how my equipment works or how to plan my dive.

You have learned to dive under normal conditions and have come to the realisation that there are many other interesting diving activities. Perhaps you have also had the experience in other countries that certain dive sites are closed to you because of your qualifications. For different diving activities, further levels of training are required to ensure safe diving. Night diving, ice diving or deep diving are situations that are more demanding and require more knowledge about diving. With the OWD, the maximum recommended depth is 18 metres and the wreck you are interested in is at 25 metres, a reason to start the AOWD. If your buoyancy is not perfect or your underwater navigation gives you a headache before each dive, the AOWD will help you overcome these problems.
The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course ( AOWD ) provides new skills, knowledge, experience and insight into the many different specialties of diving. You can choose between,

Diving with Nitrox
Dry suit diving
UW photography
Wreck diving
Drift diving
Fish identification
Lifting and Recovery
UW Naturalist
Buoyancy in perfection

The two compulsory dives are deep diving and navigation. For the other diving topics you have free choice.

Theory
The Advanced Open Water Diver course focuses on practical training in open water. Accompanying this, you can read up on each of your chosen topics in the textbook at home and answer review questions. Afterwards we will go through your answers in a theory lesson and give you tips for the practice.

Open water
The five open water dives will be conducted in a nearby lake. At the end of the course you will be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver.
